The Process Communications Forum (formerly the Process Team) communicates the business process impact of putting the Standard into practice in the following ways:
General User Community Briefings including subteam updates and announcements
Feedback from the user community
Create/update content for outreach/education
Website establishment and maintenance
Plan/coordinate educational sessions w/ External Groups, FDA, etc.
The Process Communications Forum has a small subgroup specifically tasked with creating and maintaining a web-based site for publicly available SPL documentation. This site serves as a repository of SPL information and allows the SPL Working Group to more effectively communicate through a web-based interchange of information in addition to teleconference and meetings.
Next meeting: Date, time, ( call in details)
May 30, 1:00 - 2:30 EST
Teleconference: 1-888-877-2060 ID# 716968
This is a corrected file (correction published 4:30PM EST Jan12, 2012)
Additional correction: To clarify confusion resulting from misinformation about the change in title for LOINC code, here is the original communication from the SPL group at the FDA: Currently, a drug product's data elements are described in a section of an SPL document with the LOINC name "SPL Listing Data Elements Section" and LOINC 48780-1. The product information in future SPL files submitted to FDA for purposes other than the listing of a drug should not be included in a section labeled "SPL Listing Data Elements Section." Therefore, a decision has been made to alter the LOINC section header name from "SPL Listing Data Elements Section" to "SPL Product Data Elements Section" for the LOINC 48780-1. To ensure that industry has time to update their systems to associate the new name with the LOINC 48780-1, the schedule for the deprecation of the LOINC name "SPL Listing Data Elements Section" is: January 1, 2012 - May 31, 2012 - Both section header LOINC names ("SPL Listing Data Elements Section" and "SPL Product Data Elements Section") will validate when associated with the LOINC 48780-1. June 1, 2012 - Deprecation of "SPL Listing Data Elements Section" as a name associated with the LOINC 48780-1. "SPL Product Data Elements Section" is only the section header name that can be associated with the LOINC 48780-1.
